Project Alpha: Joined Wings
A basic comparative aerodynamic analysis of Joined Wings & Conventional Wings.
Objective of this project
The main Objectives of this project are:
>> To find the induced drag contribution in commercial 300-seater passenger aircraft by conceptual approach which includes theoretical calculations of total drag on wings using excel spreadsheets.
>> To analyse the aircraft performance with the changes in wing configurations i.e. from conventional to joined wing configurations with creation of four configurations:
Conventional Wing+Tail Configuration.
Joined Wing+Tail configuration at 70% Semi-span.
And two versions of Joined Wing+Tail configuration at 100% Semispan.
>> To develop the parametric model of the configurations with parameters such as wing dihedrals, sweep parameters, span, aspect ratio etc.
>> To implement Knowledge pattern and design table for ease of designing and some level of automation.
>> To visualise the flow characteristics using ANSYS and its CFD Post capabilities.
